Tell Tales Four – The Global Village

It’s here – Tell Tales 4, the Global Village. Or rather, the first 30 copies arrive on my doorstep tomorrow. Can’t wait. We plan to hold a huge launch party at the Blag Club in Notting Hill on the 2nd April. The collection received over 150 entries including some fine, though off-theme stories from well-established authors. Enough to say that this editor is tickled peachy. Olive Senior, Caribbean short story writer of much acclaim heads up the collection with a story called Silent, the tale of a drug bust in a family home in downtown Kingston, Jamaica,  told from a child’s POV. Olive raises the bar high and the other stories hold their own. This is a dark, funny, mostly female collection of stories set all over the world, from Hyderbad to Trinidad, from cyberspace to futurespace. It will be available via Peepal Tree and Amazon soon.

All hail the short story genius and writer Courttia Newland and debut novelist Nii Parkes for setting up this ambitious and prolific collective. Collective – good word in these tough times. Collective. Co-operative. Good words.

It was an honour to guest-edit this collection.
