Propinquity

I learnt a new word today. Propinqity. People form friendships and relationships with those they encounter often. It’s called propinquity – or the ‘propinquity effect’. Hence we tend to like or fancy those we work with, live near, go to the gymn/yoga/pilates class or hang out with at the same bar/cafe etc.

Limerence – also a new word. This is a kind of cognitive obsession people find themselves in when they are in love.

I also learnt that Wordsworth said that “poetry is a man talking to men.”

I don’t know how I feel about that.

Meanwhile, I did my first reading for WWOGB tonight, at City University. Then I went for wine and some cheese and biscuits at St John’s with my mate Emily – who is so fab. We talked a lot about love – but that’s a whole other story.

I must go to the bed now.
